Through data pools, manufacturers and wholesalers can easily exchange files. manufacturers can provide information themselves, after which wholeslaers can directly load the data pool information into their ERP, PIM or CMS system.
Data pools are centralized databases in which (product) information from multiple manufacturers is stored in a standardized way. This standard makes the exchange of information between manufacturer and wholesaler, for instance, much more efficient. Examples of data pools include ETIM/2ba (for construction and installation), EZ-base (for the tools and hardware industry), IceCat (for electronics and office items) and PS in foodservice (for food products).
The information from data pools can be used to enrich your own ERP system. This information can of course also be used in the online store, in the (paper) catalog or in datasheets. Data pool information is reliable and up-to-date (after all, the information comes directly from the manufacturer) and can automatically be loaded into the ERP system.
2BA is the data pool specifically for the installation industry. manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and installers can go to 2BA to obtain or exchange information.
The tools and hardware industy exchanges its product enrichment via EZbase.
A new legislation now requires manufacturers and suppliers in the food industry to show the allergen information, ingredients and nutritional values for each product in their online store. All this information can be found and exchanges via PS in the foodservice ‘Foodbook’.
The IT, electronics, telecom, office, lighting and DIY sectors can make use of the IceCat data.
In addition to the names mentioned above, there are also smaller ‘plug-ins’ that allow you to retrieve information on your website. Think of the national postal code database (postcode.nl), which automatically retrieves and enters the street and city upon entering the postal code and house number (in a form). Or the plug-in ‘openKvK’, which retrieves the chamber of commerce details.
ETIM is the international standard for uniform classification of product data in the building and installation sector.
The tools and hardware industy exchanges its product enrichment via EZbase.
BME stands for ‘Bundesverband Material Wirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik’ and is used in the construction, energy, telecom, IT and pharmaceutical sectors, among others.
