Catalogger PRINT takes care of the automated layout of your catalog, price list or product sheet
Fully automate your print catalogs, price lists and/or product sheets with the Catalogger PRINT software. With one push of a button, product information is automatically converted into a layout document, ready to be delivered to the printer or to be offered as a download on your website.
Our software automatically converts all your product data into a fully formatted catalog, including a table of contents and index, with a design that suits your wishes and corporate style.
Virtually any type of publication can be automated. Complete catalogs, a catalog with a part of the range, or price lists and product sheets. It is also possible to create publications for specific customers, including customer-specific prices.
The data for the product catalog can be retrieved from various sources, such as a PIM system, ERP system, Excel sheet or ETIM classification files. Guidance also offers its own PIM system for managing and publishing from one source.
Setting up a catalog manually takes a lot of time and is prone to errors. Opting for an automated layout can save a lot of time and costs. A catalog can be generated as many times as desired, and the management remains in-house.
Catalogger PRINT serves as the link that enables the automation of the catalogs. Catalogger PRINT works together with the Adobe layout packages InDesign and FrameMaker, in which it places all of the product data.
PIM and PRINT work together seamlessly for an optimal result, but it is also possible to use Catalogger PRINT in combination with another database.
Various data sources can be used in combination with Catalogger PRINT. For instance, it is possible to automate a catalog using an Excel document or with the information from your ERP system.
For more flexibility, you can use a database such as the Catalogger PIM system. You can import, manage and supplement information from different sources here. This way, you have all product information in one central location. From the PIM system, you can easily set up data structures and select the items and properties you want to publish.
The layout and look & feel of the publication are determined based on your wishes and corporate style. After that, using Catalogger PRINT, your product data is immediately and automatically formatted in the right style.
In addition to a complete catalog with the full product range, Catalogger PRINT software can also be used to easily create a partial catalog. Think of a themed catalog with just the seasonal items, a catalog with products from a specific brand, or a trade fair catalog. Use the same data to create price lists of product sheets, even for specific customers or target groups. You can have your publication printed, but you can also place it on your website as a PDF or mail it to customers directly.
The catalog can be generated in different languages. Non-Western languages such as Russian or Chinese are also supported. The currency is also automatically adjusted accordingly. For each language, you can choose to not display parts of the range, or add a new component that is available exclusively to the specific country. It is also possible to publish a single catalog with multiple languages.
Automated layouts do not mean you are stuck on a single layout. Multiple layouts can be combined within a single publication. For instance, you can create a separate layout for each product group in order to optimally present the information. All layouts are applied fully automatically.
The table of contents and index of your publication are generated automatically. In addition to the standard table of contents, it is also possible to generate a table of contents with images, or a table of contents per chapter. You can also include one or multiple indexes; a keyword index with synonyms, or an index based on item numbers or manufacturer numbers, for instance.
Even an automated publication still offers many layout options. Your catalog and datasheet will receive a professional design in your corporate style.
An automated publication is set up in an Adobe InDesign or Adobe FrameMaker file. These are the most commonly used graphic design programs for creating professional layouts for (print) publications.
After setting up a design in InDesign or FrameMaker, the design is linked to Catalogger as a layout. You just have to select the desired product information and the publication will be automatically set up according to the design.
Layouts can be set up in different ways to ensure that the product data is presented clearly. You can create complex tables, there is space for (multiple) images and it is possible to add cross-references and footnotes, just to name a few.
You can use different layout forms for each publication in order to present the data in the way that best suits the relevant product.
After the formatting is complete the publications can also be immediately saved as PDF. A high quality PDF can be created with crop marks for the printer, or offered as a download on the website or to send to customers via e-mail.
Even though the document is generated automatically, you can also take care of the final layout manually via the Adobe InDesign or Adobe FrameMaker layout packages. For instance, you can add corporate images, a company introduction or terms of delivery.
Tables and table cells can be styled with all conceivable colors, borders and fonts. The table cells can be managed separately, meaning that you can do things like giving just the prices a different color or putting the item number in bold.
Do you have all product data in a (Catalogger PIM) database? Then you can select what product groups, products and information you want to publish from the database. With one push of a button, this information is automatically formatted into a professionally designed file.
Catalogger PRINT generates your publication in an Adobe InDesign or Adobe FrameMaker document. These are professional layout packages specifically designed for printed materials. If desired, you can add advertisements, additional images or a foreword in the layout package.
InDesign and FrameMaker offer extensive possibilities for creating PDFs. Create a PDF with crop marks to send to the printer, or an interactive PDF that customers can download from your website. If you do not want a manual final layout, then Catalogger PRINT can generate the PDF directly.
With the graphic design set up and the data in the database, you can start publishing as often as you want. Customer-specific publications, partial catalogs per chapter, anything is possible!
