Print publications

Publications generated by database publishing techniques can usually be opened and further edited in a page structure package. Adobe InDesign and Adobe FrameMaker are the most well-known programmes. Adobe FrameMaker is usually chosen for larger and more structured publications. Adobe InDesign is typically used for publications containing many different (sub)templates.

Advertisements or atmospheric images can still be added to publications generated in Adobe InDesign or Adobe FrameMaker. The contents page, page numbers, index, footnotes and chapter headings obviously are composed automatically. The publication can be saved in PDF format in the page layout package, ready for delivery to the printer or for digital publication (browsable PDF or for e-mail distribution).

This approach has a number of advantages:

  • Professional layout of publications;
  • Professional, full-colour printed material;
  • In-house printing of proof versions or the definitive version;
  • Delivery of a PDF to a printer of your choice;
  • In-house management of publications;
  • No recurring layout costs.
